Days after writing about safety on Melbourne Trains police have used their new power to search for concealed weapons in designated areas.
ABC new have reported that police have seized a machete for a passenger at Footscray in Melbourne Western suburbs.
The ABC quotes Victorian Opposition leader Ted Baillieu as saying he supports the crackdown, but believes a more sustained effort is needed.
Also the recent stabbing murder of an Indian student in Melbourne Western Suburbs last Saturday provides further evidence that the Melbourne has problems with culture wars.
Mr Baillieu is also reported to say:
“What we need is – 365 days a year – more police on our streets, tougher sentencing and more enforcement and more capacity for police to do their job."
Travellers on Melbourne train certainly do need to see more action from enforcements agencies to get confidence of using the Met with out fear for their safety.
